Countryside is a large established residential area in the north of Clearwater, built out mostly through the 1970s and 1980s around a golf course community. Lot sizes are fairly uniform, front lawns are open to the street, and many of the subdivisions are deed restricted.
Almost all of this work is regular maintenance on a set day, with the mowing, edging, trimming and blowing off done together on the one visit. The heavier jobs are booked when the property needs them and can be added while the crew is already there.

DetailsThe subdivisions here were laid out to a small number of plans, so the yards have a lot in common with each other. Three of those shared features change how the lawn should be looked after.
Lots are close to the same size, houses sit back about the same distance, and most front lawns are open to the sidewalk with no fence and no hedge across the front. On a street where every other lawn was cut this week, the one that was not is obvious from a passing car. Keeping the height and the edges consistent is most of the job.
Full sun and the June to September rains push St. Augustine along quickly. General practice is to take no more than about a third of the leaf off in one cut, and a lawn growing that fast can pass that point in two weeks. That is why the schedule goes weekly through the growing season and eases off when growth slows.
What went in as a small shade tree when these streets were built is a wide canopy now. Front lawns that started in full sun have partial shade at one end, surface roots near the trunks, and limbs reaching over driveways, gutters and roofs. All three of those change how the yard gets cut and what needs lifting back.
On a street of open front lawns the edge is what reads from across the road. A clean vertical line along the driveway, the sidewalk and the curb makes a lawn look cut even before anyone gets close to it, so the edging is done on every visit rather than now and then.
We hand trim around surface roots and tree rings instead of running a mower deck over them, which protects the roots and the blades both. Where a canopy has thinned the grass at one end of a lawn, that part gets cut higher than the sunny part rather than everything being taken down to one height.
Many of the subdivisions here are deed restricted, and those rules usually have something to say about how high the grass gets and how tidy the beds and the edges look. We do not know what your association asks for. If there is a standard in writing, send it to us and we will work to it.
